Often created by everyday people rather than court artists\, minhwa features familiar subjects such as flowers\, animals\, birds\, plants\, and objects from daily life. Beyond their beauty\, minhwa paintings often carry wishes and hopes for things like happiness\, good fortune\, longevity\, love\, and protection. Artists have traditionally used colors\, symbols\, and imagery to express their hopes for themselves and their families. \nAbout Youngmi Chang \nYouTube | Instagram \nYoungmi Chang is originally from Daegu\, Korea\, and is currently an artist based in New Jersey. She is dedicated to sharing Korean traditional folk art through workshops\, her paintings\, and online painting videos. You may recognize Youngmi from the culture camps that serve our Minnesota Korean adoptee community. We’re so excited to welcome her back to Minnesota to share her beautiful minhwa with our community!
